We are introducing a new concept on BJJNinja`s. On a more regular base we will be organising masterclasses BJJ (Gi and No-Gi). These are 1 day events with Pro competitors, instructors who belong to the best in the field in Europe.
On December thirrd 2022 we will have our first edition in Belgium (Sportcentrum De Witte Molen Azalealaan 29, 9100 Sint-Niklaas).) in partnership with Daniel de Groot and Maarten Bauwens. Their will be short sessions in Both Gi & No-Gi. The set-up for the day is, Gi session bye Maarten Bauwens and No-Gi sessions by Daniel de Groot.
There will be time to roll during the openmat, and ofcourse lots of sparring. But also the chance to meet new people, and a lot of oppurtunities to exchange experiences with eachother and to better your competiton game in the Gi and No-Gi.
Maarten Bauwens
In 2015 behaalde Maarten Bauwens aan de Gentse Universiteit de titel van Master of Science in de lichamelijke opvoeding en bewegingswetenschappen.[1] In april 2017 behaalde hij in Abu Dhabi de wereltitel jiujitsu in de gewichtsklasse tot 85 kg[2] en werd hij vice-Europees kampioen in Lissabon.[3][4]
Op 23 februari 2019 werd hij in Malaga Europees kampioen, eveneens in de gewichtsklasse tot 85 kg. Daar viel hij op door tijdens de podiumceremonie niet zoals gebruikelijk de Belgische driekleur maar wel de Vlaamse leeuwevlag te ontvouwen.[5][6] Met zijn lange baard en agressieve gevechtsstijl profileert hij zich ook op sociale media graag als de “Flemish Lion”.[7]

Daniel de Groot
As a competitor I’ve travelled the world to compete. I’ve made a name for myself in the European and Brazilian circuits. In 2021 I received my black belt. I love competing, not just for the rush or for the feeling of winning, but also to test the techniques I teach. There are plenty coaches that tell you to do things they haven’t applied in high-level competition. I don’t want to be one of them. I want to show only techniques I am 100% sure will work, even against tough resistance.
My main accomplishments are winning the IBJJF nogi European and nogi Brazilian championships. That makes me the only Dutchman to ever win the Brazilian championships. With the gi I’ve medalled at the IBJJF Europeans and I’ve won the IBJJF Curitiba Open. In submission grappling I’ve won the elite categories of NAGA and Grappling Industries.
