Daniel de Groot

Coach Daniel de Groot has been practicing jiu jitsu since 2012. He founded Erasmus BJJ in 2015 and is one of the most accomplished and active Dutch grapplers, being a Dutch-, Brazilian- and European champion.

Daniel learned the art of being a jiu jitsu competitor and coach during his internships at The House Fight Company, one of Brazil’s premier gyms.

His true passion is coaching and he has guided several of his students to win competitions around the country.

Maarten Bauwens

In 2015 Maarten Bauwens obtained the title of Master of Science in physical education and movement sciences at Ghent University. [1] In April 2017, he won the world title jiujitsu in the weight class up to 85 kg in Abu Dhabi [2] and became vice-European champion in Lisbon. [3] [4]

On February 23, 2019 he became European champion in Malaga, also in the weight class up to 85 kg. He stood out by unfolding the Belgian tricolor during the podium ceremony, but the Flemish lion flag as usual. [5] [6] With his long beard and aggressive combat style, he likes to profile himself on social media as the “Flemish Lion”. [7]

She has over 10 years of judo experience, national and international victories, 3th degree black belt, Started MMA in 2009 and practiced BJJ in function of MMA for the first couple of years, MMA record: 7 – 1 – 0 (3 amateur fights, 5 professional ones) Around 2 years ago the decision was made to focus mainly on BJJ.

Fran will teach a 75 minute Gi session on saturday and a 75 minute No-Gi session on sunday.

Arnoud Terpstra

Arnoud is head coach at GFA and has received his brown belt in 2016. He’s been active as a coach for many years now at different locations in Groningen, Drachten and Leeuwarden and eventually started his own team in 2014.

Arnoud has a very laid back teaching style and always tries to make sure everybody feels at home at his club.

I have more then 12 years of experience teaching and training people and athletes diverse Martial Arts like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Grappling, MMA, Kickboxing and Karate and been training people and diverse athletes Strenght- and Conditioningtraining to help them achieving their goals in sports and in life.
I also give personal training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and strenght- and conditioningtraining.

I’m also a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athlete who still likes to compete.
I achieved many podium places through the National- and International tournaments for the last 11 years that I’ve been competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling Tournaments. My main achievements are:

Orlando Prins, Brown belt, the head instructor of FOCUS Jiujitsu Groningen, Having trained several other martial arts disciplines Orlando one day chose to add jiujitsu to his arsenal and fell in love with the sport.

He is one of the most active competitors, Orlando has won many medals all over the world. Some of his achievements include, winning the Abu Dhabi Trials, IBJJF medals in Nice, London, Paris and many more. Orlando is training full time and shifted his focus lately to MMA as well.)
